Recipe to try: Rhubarb-Lemon Balm Spritzer

I received this in the mail from Emily D. and my curiosity was piqued. Maybe because I drank my first ever Lingonberry drink a week ago. Yes, after all these years of frequenting the IKEA cafe, it never caught my eye. But that day, maybe the queue was extra long, and it was hot and I was bothered and the berries aligned ... so I gulped down the tiny UHT pack of Lingonberry along with its sugary empty promises. (I can hear my trainer screaming now. No carbs!)

Nonetheless, the humble berry has received a nod from Dr Oz and can be paired quite successfully with other drinks for extra fizz.

So I may pick up the Saft Rabarber on the next trip. And I have a great excuse, now that I have this delicious recipe from Emily D. It's perfect for hot summer days (which I have all year round, another perfect excuse.) Cheers!

My hunt for a new patterned rug finally over!

I have this cream colored rug for close to 10 years now. Lately, it was beginning to look blah and I was having geometric dreams. Inspired by what the bold (with steady hands) have done, I contemplated painting it using stencils, painter's tape or even sharpie. I can hack it, definitely, but there is a bigger issue - size that is.

The rug has always been a little too small for my living room dimensions. I made do, but was never satisfied. And you know how that feels.

See what I mean?

In the meantime, while hunting for patterned rugs, the ALVINE RUTA caught my eye. I like the yellow, a colour I am beginning to love a lot in recent days. (It's such a happy colour, like a ray of sunshine indoors) Then, at the SALE - I saw it and - dum dum dum dum - it was reduced. ALVINE came home with me!

When I spread out all of its 5' 7" x 7' 10" glory in my living room, the size was perfect but it didn't look quite right with my furniture placement. There are some "rug rules" it seems. (Here too, if you are into that sort of thing) But for me, it's just gut. Sofa legs on or off, 2 legs in or out - it's not an exact science - you'll know when it looks and feels right.

Here's how it looked in place of the cream rug. No can do.

Tic with me please

This hot pink IKEA clock has been with me for years now (its name escapes me) and it is still my favourite tic toc. A few weeks ago, it died on me but I was reluctant to let it go. I can be a sentimental, that way. Nifty fingers got to work and a heart transplant from a $1.99 RUSCH later, I managed to get its little heart ticking again. A happy day it is when I can salvage stuff.

Now I am wondering what to do with the RUSCH shell. Maybe an airplant terrarium? Thinking... thinking ...
